Granting wishes to individuals with a rare disease is important for several reasons. First, it can provide a source of hope and joy for those who are struggling with the physical, emotional, and financial challenges of their illness. When someone is diagnosed with a rare disease, they may feel isolated and alone in their struggle, but granting a wish can remind them that they are part of a larger community that cares about them.

Second, granting a wish can help to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life for individuals with a rare disease. Research has shown that positive emotional experiences, such as those associated with fulfilling a wish, can have a profound impact on a person's mental and physical health. By granting a wish, we can help to improve the overall health and happiness of those who are battling a rare disease.

Finally, granting wishes can also raise awareness about rare diseases and the challenges that individuals with these conditions face. By sharing the stories of those who have had their wishes granted, we can help to educate others about the impact of rare diseases and the need to address disparities and gaps in care through the development of evidence-based resources, research, innovative clinical tools, and programs to support the rare community. Overall, granting wishes to individuals with a rare disease is a powerful way to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are struggling, and to help raise awareness about the challenges of living with a rare disease.

What We
Offer

💜 Wish Application Update: At this time, Rare Wish has placed our Wish Applications on hold.As a very small nonprofit with limited funding, we simply do not have the resources to grant new wishes right now. While we would love to provide “big” experiences like Disney and other travel wishes, we are not there yet. Currently, we are grateful when we are able to grant even one wish a year. With national grant funding being reduced and donations coming in slowly, smaller nonprofits like Rare Wish face the challenge of competing with larger organizations for the same dollars. Because of this, we have decided to pause accepting new wish applications until our funding increases.💌

Please know: We will keep all applications already received on file. Once additional funding becomes available, we will review those applications first before reopening the window for new requests. Our heart and mission remain focused on giving back to the rare disease community — not requesting from it. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work together to #MakeRareVisible.
